On October 18, 2015 Snapchat featured a truly touching live story that focused on the ongoing breast cancer awareness that is taking part throughout the entire United States.
Titled “Get Your Pink On”, the Snapchat story began with an opening line that stated, “BEAT CANCER: Get your pink on with us as we celebrate breast cancer fighters, survivors, and their supporters.” There were multiple different geofilters that were displayed throughout the entire Snapchat story dependent upon where the Snapchatter was located during the time. They ranged from city names to the very well known pink ribbon paired with a statement, “life is beautiful”.
Cities throughout the entire country were featured on the Get Your Pink On Snapchat story including Manhattan, Oveido, Honolulu, Waikiki and Jones Beach State Park amongst several others. Viewers of the story got the chance to see a truly heart warming coming together of not only cities but of communities, friends, families, supporters and strangers helping and hoping to bring both awareness and celebration to the cause.
Throughout the story there were also breast cancer survivors who stated who they were and how long they had been cancer-free for always accompanied by a big smile.
As Breast Cancer Awareness Month continues throughout the rest of October, there may not be additional Snapchat stories but there will indeed be more celebrations of those who have fought and survived along with loving memory for those who have lost the battle and those who are in constant pursuit of putting an end to it altogether.
