Chances are if you love a man with a beard, you went crazy over last weekend’s Snapchat story titled “Beards and Mustaches” that took place in Manhattan, NYC and followed the 2015 National Beard and Moustache Championships.
The story took place on Sunday, November 8 and began with a fun geofilter of a cartoon man with a long enough beard to fit the words “beards & moustaches” accompanied by an opening statement, “Who’s got the best beard in Brooklyn? Decide today at the National Beard & Moustache Championships”. Throughout the story, other geofilters were featured of which many included fun facts and the definitions of both a moustache and a partial defined as, “this category is not just your dad’s goatee. Look for some serious sideburns”.
The event was of course not limited to just those living within the New York City area but from all over the nation who believed they had just what it would take to win that prized title of best beard or best moustache in the USA. All sorts of men came out with truly impressive facial hair from the classic Imperial and Handlebar to none other than the famed man with the bird caged beard (literally…see below). From short to partial, long to ridiculously long and everything in between, all shapes and sizes were seen this last Sunday.
Although the competition was nothing short of fierce, the man who now has bragging rights for the next 12 months is none other than Scott Metts, who apparently had an entire Willy Wonka themed beard and outfit that captured both the judges and onlookers attention of this year’s event. The other 299 contestants along with several other hundreds of facial hair lovers out there will undoubtedly continue growing out every last centimeter of facial hair in hopes of taking the title of next year’s National Beard and Moustache Championships.
