pokemon goCould you get SEO value from Pokémon Go? That is the questions I asked myself tonight, just after becoming level 5. 🙂

We’ll be rolling this out for one of our local clients in a smaller town as a little test as it will only take a few minutes to set up. This may be significantly more difficult if you are in a large city such as Los Angeles or Chicago.

Build a list of Local Pokéstops and Gyms

Pokéstops, in some areas, are generating a boatload of foot traffic. Business owners are wondering how they can stop being a Pokéstop or how they can become a Pokéstop. In this article, I explain that this is not an option (yet). But, the search traffic for Pokémon is ridiculous! There is no doubt in my mind that people are looking online for Pokéstops and gyms when they are not playing the Pokémon Go game.

A Pokéstop is a location, in the real world, where a Pokémon Go user can visit and on the game they get free items to help them play the Pokémon Go game on their phone.

How is this helpful?

This will be completely unique content you can add to your blog. If you are a real estate agent or attorney in Apex North Carolina, for example, you could compile a list of local, historic places, or more importantly, places which are Pokéstops and Gyms. People will find the page in search. This may not help you at all, but that is how content goes. People will find you and either gather the information and leave, or they may find your article and learn about your business and become a customer. Best case scenario, they will link to you, giving your website that much more power (natural links).

If you are in a larger city and took the time to compile this list there is no doubt in my mind that you would get a massive amount of links. That would indeed be a tremendous amount of effort, but, it would work. Heck if you do this let me know and I’ll link to you. There’s your first link. 🙂

We will be giving this a test drive over the next few weeks. Once I have results from this little experiment I will report back with some actual data.
