FIVE Types of Google Maps Location URLs:

There are several ways to get a URL to a business in Google Maps.In the example above, I used the Raleigh Carmax.

Via desktop, the Carmax in Raleigh’s Google Maps URL is:
https://goo.gl/maps/PnEN7Dj2ScJkKBtn6.

On mobile, Maps App users are given this URL for the exact same company:
https://maps.app.goo.gl/gKcj5YkkxBdG7zV66

Both are simply a shortened version of this:
https://www.google.com/maps/place/CarMax/@35.885503,-78.7415317,17z/data=!3m1!4b1!4m5!3m4!1s0x89acf7362174758b:0x5b08de5f8d6518ee!8m2!3d35.885503!4d-78.739343

However, if you are on Desktop, then search Google for the listing, then go to Maps and COPY the URL from your address bar, the URL looks like this:
https://www.google.com/search?client=firefox-b-1-d&q=raleigh%20carmax&npsic=0&rflfq=1&rlha=0&rllag=35889347,-78648271,8210&tbm=lcl&rldimm=6559737359240599790&lqi=Cg5yYWxlaWdoIGNhcm1heCIDiAEBWggKBmNhcm1heA&ved=2ahUKEwictOPsg9zkAhVRheAKHTJLD8wQvS4wAHoECAoQFg&rldoc=1&tbs=lrf:!2m1!1e3!3sIAE,lf:1,lf_ui:4#rlfi=hd:;si:6559737359240599790,l,Cg5yYWxlaWdoIGNhcm1heCIDiAEBWggKBmNhcm1heA;mv:[[35.893653799999996,-78.5462706],[35.8850416,-78.75027159999999]];tbs:lrf:!2m1!1e3!3sIAE,lf:1,lf_ui:4

Also… Depending on the browser used, you can get a different URL all together.

Some business owners have claimed their “G page” short URLs. In those cases, the URL looks different. It’s simply a URL shortener business owners may use in their Google My Business dashboard. Mercedes Benz of Raleigh’s Maps URL looks like this:
g.page/MercedesBenzOfRaleigh

How To Get a “G Page” Short URL

If you like the Mercedes Benz example above and want to make your life as simple as possible, go ahead and get your G Page URL. I wrote about how to do this here: How To Get a Google My Business Custom URL.

You could always place a redirect on your domain as well, such as telapost.com/map/ and have that point to your actual URL.
