If you’ve followed this blog for some time you may know that I used to host a Google My Business support forum online and have seen thousands of issues with Google My Business (GMB). If you’re reading this, you probably know that GMB problems are very frustrating. I get it – I personally owned a “brick and mortar” business from 2001 – 2013 and have been on the receiving end of problems myself.
When GMB pages have problems, people begin frantically searching for answers.
Do Google Partners get Access to Google My Business Employees?
If you’ve been to this website, you’ll see on the footer that I am a Google Partner. I have several friends in the industry who are “Partners” or “Premier Partners”, etc.
The logo looks cool and some people wonder what that means – “partner”. The truth is, “partner” is a bit misleading.
To become a “partner”, you simply have to pass a test on Google Ads. Premier partners have 2 people at their company who have passed a test.
Partners and Premier Partners do not have special access to the GMB team. Google is a huge company with many different departments which have zero communication with each other. I know this because I know several Google employees (it’s not a secret, anyways).
So, what does a Google Partner get?
Telapost is indeed a “Google Partner”. I do have two employees who are certified as well. We’re probably a Premier Partner also. Honestly, I don’t remember.
If you want to do business with a Partner, feel free to give me a call. However, the tests are easy for anyone who has worked with AdWords for any extended period of time.
It’s pretty rare I do much of anything with Google Ads (formerly known as AdWords). I get how it works and can pass the tests, but, the amount I’d have to charge someone to spend the time in their campaign negates the benefits.
The only special access we get to Google is by hosting events. If we host an event, a Google employee shows up and gives away swag. Rest assured, this employee is handing out stickers – they are not a GMB insider.
Even if they were, I wouldn’t take advantage of the relationship.
Google My Business Fixes
If you’re reading this article, you probably need assistance with GMB. Normally, if you have an issue, you can contact the GMB team. This basically means you’re contacting an outsourced group of people in India. It’s their job to either tell you to scram, or escalate actual problems to higher level employees in the GMB team. Simple fixes can be done on the phone, more involved issues must be escalated and you’ll need to wait for them to get back to you (24-48hrs turnaround time as of May 2019).
Options for contacting GMB:
- Call them. While logged in to the account which manages GMB, click here to talk to a specialist. Alternatively, you can also request a callback. Note: If you request the call back, your phone will get a call from Mumbai, India, from a number such as +9-22-6101-4512. There’s one more number, but I try to use it as a last resort. It’s (844) 491-9665.
- You can also reach GMB support on Facebook or Twitter.
